Appearance: White crystalline powder, odorless, with a bitter and astringent taste. Soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, very slightly soluble in chloroform, and insoluble in acetone.
Used as an intermediate in the synthesis of levamisole hydrochloride, it is an anthelmintic agent effective against intestinal worms. It is indicated for infections caused by Ascaris, hookworms, and pinworms.
