Appearance: White crystalline powder, odorless, with a bitter and astringent taste. Soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, very slightly soluble in chloroform, and insoluble in acetone.
Used as an intermediate for levamisole hydrochloride, an anthelmintic and antiparasitic drug. Effective against infections caused by roundworms, hookworms, and pinworms.
